Bodies, bodies everywhere.

So one of the main reasons I put a crap-ton of my dolls\parts up for sale was to make some room and thin out the herd, so to speak. But I also seem to need a bunch of bodies for heads and dolls that just needed an upgrade.

EDIT: Ooh I'm so excited - Wyn's body shipped, Kirks head just shipped!! I hope Kirk works. I have an outfit planned for him already so I need to get him a body. *crosses fingers*

A quick rundown of who needs a body:

Heads:
Spock (Minimee)
Kirk (ok, he needs a head too. Still.)
Anna (FL F60 Sionna)
Gabriel (Supia Ariel)
Final Alex head (used to be 2.5)

Dolls:
Sage - I'd like to get her a new body, then give her F60 Moe back to Anna
Wyn - Sold his body, he needs a new one
Mini David - Bought him one already since Granado had a two day sale and I had no choice.

Mini David - Migidoll Mir - has been on a Lati Blue body, but I've decided I hate it. I spent a lot of time looking for something as tall...and i've decided it just doesn't exist. Something that is close was the Granado body however, and it looks really nice. They opened up for a very short time to sell parts, so I had to buy it then. So Mini David actually has his body on the way.

I sold Wyn's body last week and thanks to all the sales I've had, I have enough to get to get him a new one. I've been set on Dollstown, but I was unsure of which one. My choices were the DT 15yr boy, 13yr girl and 15yr girl, since all three are up for sale on the MP right now. After freaking out about it all day, I decided the 15yr is the way to go and pmed that person - sadly I'll have to get the whole doll and I don't need the head....but it's not like the 15yr girl is readily available, so I don't have much choice. I'm really hoping this works out. Wyn has been due some fixing up for years. It would be nice to have him perfect for a change.

Sage or Gabriel will probably be next on the list. I'd really like to have Sage taller and slimmer, and Gabriel has never had a body, so it would be nice to get her moving. Kirk needs to ship so I can see if he will work out before I think about bodies for him and Spock.

I probably won't be selling Mini David's Lati body. I have....tentative plans for it, even though I hate it. We'll see if they pan out.

Also also, what do you guys think about back drops? I've been looking at them on Ebay but I'm unsure about actually pulling the trigger...which is silly, I should just do it.

Week 1 - Origin

Sorry for the double-post, but I got his finished and wanted to post so I can move on to the next one. This is going to be long, but first a few things. Alex's hair is horrible in this photo. This is why I've spent three days working on it. He's also the only one actually standing in this photo - Isis is on a stand, David is leaning on her and Alex tried to fall every time the wind blew XD

This is supposed to represent the "origin" of both my comic and the characters (they were the first three, and the main characters of the story (along with Uriel)). The writing is supposed to be the first time Alex and David meet Isis. I had to write it a bunch of times before I liked it....the first one was only half done and 7 pages D: Also I'm not a writer and I rarely share what I write (Fiction....this blog totally doesn't count.) so don't make fun, or point out all the errors or anything ok thanks bye.

Daylight Officer Isis Rhodes had been sitting alone at a table in the small cafeteria, eating a salad when I found her. Well, she was poking at it with a fork. She hadn’t actually taken a bite that I saw since I walked in and sat down in the chair next to her. I’d stared at her for a full minute before she finally noticed me, and had almost fallen out of her chair. At least I didn’t laugh.

She was having a bad night. Shortly after returning from her shift, she’d pulled her gun on a total stranger - a completely innocent stranger, I might add - who just happened to be standing there doing nothing at all, or who was possibly staring at her boobs. And who also happened to be me. Now she was facing the tough choice of losing her job, or accepting a promotion that wasn’t really a promotion at all, but a creative punishment. The job change would mean working the Night Shift, and doing the most shit jobs there were. But at least she’d have a job.

Or she could tell people why she decided to try and shoot me, and get fired. And it wasn’t because I was staring at her boobs, I swear. At least, I don’t think that was it.

“What…I can’t….what? Why are you even here?” She stumbled over her words, still not over the events of the past couple of hours. Or, it was the shock of my sudden presence. One of the two. “You’re not…? Oh god you’re not going too—“

I glared at her. “No! I’m not going to bite you! Not here anyway. And you’re not my type. At all. So there.” Which was probably the biggest lie I’ve ever told in my life. She totally was my type. My type being female, and in front of me.

“I’m looking for cake, stop changing the subject.”

“Cake?! There’s no cake! And how am I not your type?! What is ….I can’t ...even!” She looked away from me and let out a frustrated breath. “Just…get away from me, you….thing. “

“Thing?” As far as insults go, that was about as pathetic as they got. I’ve said worse in my sleep. “Well now I’m hurt,” I said rolling my eyes.  “We just met! How can you be so mean?”

“Oh! Just shut up!” She made a move to leave. “I can’t sit here and listen to you threaten me and, and, stuff.”

To stop her, I did something I don’t normally do. I grabbed her wrist. Luckily I was sort of wearing gloves, and she had long sleeves on, or it could have gone bad.

“You’re going now, aren’t you?”

“Let go of me!” She hissed, unsuccessfully trying to pull away.

“To talk to your supervisor,” I continued as if she hadn’t spoken. “Tonner is in there with him right now… and he’s only your supervisor for a while longer.” I hadn’t really meant to say that, it sort of slipped out. That happened sometimes.

“How….how did you know that.” She relaxed and knowing she wasn’t going to run off, I let her go. “And how did you know I was going up there to…talk.”

“I know everything,” I shrugged and looked away. “If you tell him, it won’t go well. He won’t believe you.”

She laughed. “And you just happen to know that? Because you’re psychic? That’s why she hired you isn’t it, John?” Who the fuck is John? Oh right, me. I hate fake names.

“It’s Alex,” I told her, frowning. She didn’t seem to notice I'd even said anything.

“Captain Tonner? You’re her pet psychic, right? What bullshit! Vampires can’t be psychic!” She brandished her plastic fork at me like a weapon.

Yeah. That’s why she tried to shoot me. She thought I was a vampire. Just because she was right didn’t mean I had to be happy about it.

“Besides,” she continued, “he’ll have no choice to believe me. You look like a vampire, with your pale skin, and black clothes!” Now that’s not really fair. People can be pale. And what does everyone have against my clothes anyway?

“Once they really look at you it’ll be obvious you’re dead! You don’t have a heartbeat!”

“Something you would think would have come up during my physical.”

Her face went blank as she was suddenly derailed.  “Your what?”

“You know, that thing where you go visit the Precinct Medic and she says ‘You don’t have any infectious diseases! Go you!’ Or at least in my case ‘You’re not dead!’ and clears you for work.”

“But…how….”

“Well, I’d tell you, but you’d just think it was ‘bullshit’.”

“It’s not possible…”

“Yeah, I know. But I am the exception to all rules, Isis. You should know that upfront, if we’re going to work together.”

“Officer Rhodes,” she growled.

“Right. For about, another hour. Then it’s Detective Rhodes. Congratulations by the way. Though I hear it doesn’t come with a pay raise.”

I thought she might hyperventilate which, of all things, actually made feel a little sympathetic. Fortunately I can ignore such feelings easily.

“So there you go. You can talk all you want, tell the whole world, and see if I care. Nothing will happen. Oh, other than you getting fired, losing everything and probably ending up locked up for life. “

She looked up at me. “What? Why would they lock me up? That’s ridiculous. And someone would believe eventually. You can’t possibly be that good.”

“Maybe not.” I am. “But if you say anything,” I paused. Drama can be fun.

“I might accidentally let it slip that you’re a witch.”

The fork slid from her grip and fell to the floor with a hollow clink. Her face drained of all color and her thoughts just…stopped.

“How. How could you know that?” Her voice was barely a whisper. We were both really lucky that only the kitchen staff was there this late, and they were in the back somewhere, because none of them were present for this conversation.

“What part of ‘I know everything’ did you not get? First, psychic. Also, vampire. I could tell the same way you could. The second I saw you.”

“Oh god….”

“So,” I went on, “unlicensed, unregistered, practicing witch working for the police? That’s not going to go over well, is it? You know what they’ll do, don’t you?”

She shook her head, though to what, I don’t know. “I’m…I’m not practicing.”

“Don’t lie to me. It’s insulting,” I spat.

“They’ll put you in the Hole. That’s a thing, you know. It’s not a rumor they started to keep practitioners in line. They’ll send a Bug Catcher after you and you’ll disappear into that dark, underground room, surrounded by enchantments, so you can never escape. That is, if you’re even good enough to try.”

Trembling, she put her hand over her mouth.

“Or,” I continued considerably more cheerful than she was, “You can show up for work on Monday with your shiny new detectives badge, and watch me do fun things like stare at paperwork, pick people out of lineups and break Detective Dana’s nose. Though I doubt he’ll ever touch me again after the first time, so that that last one might not have a repeat performance, sorry.“

She sat so still and was so quiet for a while that I kind of wondered if I’d broken her. I touched her thoughts, just barely, to see if they were even there.

Ok. Maybe I should poke her or something. If only I had a stick.

I was still trying to decide what I should do in the off chance she suddenly started ranting or drooling when she spoke quietly.

“So that’s it. You’re just going to blackmail me…with my life,” She said, misery and defeat in every word, and her posture.

I supposed I could afford to be nice, since I’d just won the fight, if you could even call it that. I don’t really understand nice, but I thought I’d give it a try. How hard could it be?

“Don’t think of it as blackmail,” I said, in what I hoped was a helpful voice. “Think of it as ….two friends doing each other a favor.”

“We are not friends!” She yelled. I guess anger is better than... well it’s not better, but it’s something.

“Co-workers then,” I said with bored shrug. I was done with this conversation; it was past time to move on. “Why don’t they have cake here anyway? There aren’t even any donuts! I thought cops ate donuts at like, every meal? I have yet to find any. And I’ve looked.”

Isis sat back in her chair, staring blankly forward. “Oh my god. This is my life now.”

“Yes,” I snapped, “get used too it. One long, cakeless fuckup, working with vampires.”

“Vampires?” She asked giving me a confused look. "As in more than one?"

“Well what the fuck did you think David was? A pixie? A werewolf? He’s not that hairy.”

“Who’s David?”

Shit. Stupid, fucking fake names. Fuck!

“I meant Joseph. That’s what I said isn’t it? Joe? Right? I don’t even know a David. Who is David?”

Before Isis could answer, David actually walked though the cafeteria door, as if I’d summoned him with my stupidity.

“Hey, did you eat?” He suddenly realized Isis was sitting there, and tried to turn on his charm.

“Oh, hi Isis. I’m sorry, I meant Officer Rhodes.” He’s so polite I often want to puke. I glowered at nothing while he spoke over my head. “I really hope there are no hard feelings over…what happened. I look forward to working with you.” He didn’t go so far as to hold out his hand or anything, but I still gagged a little inside, while Isis did a very good impression of a deer sitting in the headlights of a speeding bus.

No one spoke for a very long, very awkward pause. Finally David gave in.

“Right. So why didn’t you eat?” He asked me.

“Because this stupid fucking place has no cake!” I stood up and shoved my chair back so hard it hit the table behind us. “Can we go home now? Jesse probably made me cake.”

David looked back at Isis who was looking more and more terrified. The funny thing was, the fact that we were vampires no longer scared her as much as the realization that she would be seeing us every day, for the rest of her life. Forever. Heh heh.

“I’m sorry,” David apologized again. “He has…. low blood sugar. It makes him irritated. I glared at both of them. It happens….often.”

Isis couldn’t seem to find words and just sat there staring at nothing.

“You haven’t seen me irritated yet,” I snapped. “Lets go! I’m done here.” I started to leave, knowing David would have no choice but to follow. He gave a frustrated and long-suffering sigh that he usually reserved for me. I heard it a lot.

“It was nice meeting you, he said to her, still trying to be nice. I guess we’ll see you around.” He turned to go, but paused, looking back. “Oh, and congratulations on making Detective!”

I looked over my shoulder as we left. She had dropped her head into her hands and was sitting miserable and alone with her wilted salad. I wasn’t sure how we would ever get along, but least she was hot. She’d be a lot more fun to look at on a daily basis than Detective Bruce Dana, who was like a brick wall that had turned into a man, and then got his nose broken by….someone, so he was all bruised and disfigured. 

I could work with her.

Invasion of the Body Sharers. And Seven.

I got my Fairyland Nanuri 12A last week. This is the doll I decided would be Sages Twin, the Elf formerly known as Kael. I changed his name to Rowen becasue it sounds better and makes more sense with Sage. The faceup "he" came with was fantastic, and by some miracle, it matches the wig, so I'm keeping it. The only thing I did was pull out the eyelashes, because FL Chloe is the girliest girl in history and mine is a boy. So he needed a little less fluff. He's gone and stolen my El's body becuase it's the only one I have that will work unless I steal Aishe's, and Aishe has earned his right to keep his body dammit. So Adrien is already a head in a box. He won't stay that way - I just ordered him some truly fantastic eyes.

So with Rowan home, and Sage  and Wyn I have all my Elves but Shae. Still. I decided to go on and search for a head I could use on another "borrowed" body, and was directed toward Miracle Doll's Lestat. Which happens to be a head I've admired many times since it came out and was only available on their blog. Head also happened to be on sale. Hells yes.

So many years after selling the B&G Sapphira I'll have Wyn's half-brother again. I have a wig he can borrow, but I'll have to get one for him permanently. I'll also have to figure out how I want to disfigure his face. Long story. I'm excited because Lestat is a head I've wanted before, he has an open mouth with fangs so I can use him to get inspiration for my on-hold-until-I-get-parts Kara Klum mod-project, and when Rowan was Kael I owned him for a time as a B&G LE Nailo, but never at the same time as Shae. So I'll have them all together for firsties. Wyn's gots a newish faceup so he's all good to be pictureated, and other than needing her hair tamed, Sage is ready to go. GROUP SHOT!! Yays!

Shae will share a body with whoever's body he fits (but I am hoping for the Granado. Why shouldn't half my dolls be on that body? WHY?!) because I don't need any of them as a whole doll forever I think. I dunno. We'll see. I really like Rowan on that Delf body. I might like him more on an F60 one. OH GOD THE MONEY D:

Also getting a re-shell is Isis. I ordered her new head last week. I am hoping to get her before my next Dollmeet *fingers crossed*. Her new self will be DM Biwol. A doll I thought was the perfect Isis since her release, but I already owned Fine. I mean really, if you had to work with Alex you'd look worried too. Trust me on this.

I'm nervous about her becuase her eyes are so small - 10mm I think - but hopefully it won't be horrible next to David and Alex (who are 12s and 14-16). With Isis's recent character development I just don't see her as the Fine so much anymore, so I decided to go on and take this plunge. *scared*

And with all the new and incoming dolls I have recently, what do I do? Fall back into my usual obsession. A million things to do and work on and all I want is to play with this one.

If I'm going to be honest, since he's too pretty to mod into disasterage, I am sort of at a loss as to what I want for him. He's been wearing that vest since I bought it at Dollism, so I'm thinking this is his style. I have all these clothes I buy for Alex I just don't see him wearing or I just never put on him (like all my Anotherspace stuffs)...this one is going to wear the clothes. All the clothes!!! And wear this wig I mangled several years back. And the two wigs I have had planned to make but never did because I don't see the current Alex's wearing them.
He's slowly becoming a doll. Or at least becoming more than the doll sitting on the Alex shelf cowering because apparently Alex I is a bully. Not sure why that should surprise me.

 

He has the expensive eyes (Enchanted Doll Eyes, also from Dollism). I had him less than 24 hours and he took all the shit I bought. Lol. Alex.

 

 I just love him. Seven of the same stupid doll and he never gets old for me.

I am having trouble deciding what kind of faceup I want on him however.

I - Somewhat natural, pretty.
II - Looks like death (not the entity, the concept.), still natural
III - Is the most "Alex" Alex.
IV - Is actually Azrael, who is  Death. The entity.
Skullface - Also Azrael. Also Death. Looks it literally.
2.5  who is now 6 - getting wiped and modded, but has the "glam" faceup
7 - Blank. Boo.

I feel like I've covered the bases....but in order to justify him he needs his own look.The good thing is, Alex being 500years old, I have pretty much everything under the moon to choose from...he gets bored. He's probably done it to himself. It meaning everything. XD

I could go:
Emo-Goth - which I don't have unless you count Azrael who's totally goth (dammit)
A different natural than Alex's I or II. No idea how I would do that tho...
A less cray version of Visual Kei than Adrien (or is that just Goth??? OMG I DON'T KNOW!! too many styles)
I have no idea.

What I know
Alex has:
Naturally white-blond hair
Blue eyes (cornflower like the flower or possibly the crayon.)
Pale, pale skin - which is also natural thanks to the hair but also, vampire.
Black eyebrows. Yep. Don't ask.

So other than that I can really do anything...no tattoos, but scars and piercings would work as both would eventually heal. My only character hang-ups are his laziness - he's not a super-high-maintenance person because he wouldn't bother, and would only half-ass do anything so the current dyed hair is a lot of work for him - and he doesn't like to emphasize the fact that he is pretty. So sometimes I don't think it's right to put "makeup" on him. I do it anyway (2.5/6) because I like it, but I feel wrong doing it.

Hair I've got planned. This wig, another dread wig - all dreadlocks this time, and one of alpaca that looks like it's been half shaved off - the precursor to his green-purple style of looks-like-it's-been-cut-with-a-weed-eater. I also have to make a new Green and Purple wig X2 for reasons out of alpaca hair. Assuming I can make anything at all out of alpaca hairs. I have the stuff, I just have to do it. Someday.

But the point is, hair I have covered. And eyes. And clothes.

I just need a faceup. Urg. I should go look at faceups for inspiration. I just don't want him looking like I and II. Here's hoping. I need to work on updating my doll list. So many body-sharers atm and it's getting confusing. I think this is the Year of the Floating Head for me. :\

As it seems to go these days it's been awhile since I updated anything. I haven't done much with my dolls other than make a few wigs and snap some crappy pics of a few new arrivals and such, so I guess there's not much to get excited over. I would love to get photos taken of a lot of the current crew, but I'm sick of taking them at work...which leaves me with not a lot of options.

Also I'm attempting Nano again this year (which hopefully won't be indefinitely postponed by sickness and death like it was last year. No one wants that.) and it's taking up time (I should be writing - but I'm actually a head for once so it's ok. right??) and a lot of energy.

But I do have photos!

Fiirst is the little guy (technically a girl, but y'know. No.) I won at Dollism for coming in second in the faceup contest. He's a Doll Family A JiMing (it took me forever to remember the mold name, and then I sort forgot I had him. *shame*). I had NO idea what I was going to do with him. He looks a lot like DK Aqua, which is the head I'd used in the contest, so I was stuck on him being that doll smaller - but that doll is nothing right now. No character or even a body, so having a small version of him was totally unappealing. He's also a sleeping mold which through me off even more. I stuck him on my shelf and thus my forgetting I owned him. Then while I was looking at photos of some Withdoll Tinies, in preperation for my own eventually getting here, I saw the cutest thing ever, and was told it was a DF tiny.

This caused me to remember I had one. And when I realized it was Lati Yellow/Pukifee sized I got excited because I was still expecting the AB Cream, I had Ebils and had just ordered that Werewolf baby from WD... So really the DF would fit right in. And on the spot I came up with something for him. His name is Morpheus, or Morph for short, but I call him Sandy, cause he's the Sandman.

The Sandman who needs practice. He's always putting himself to sleep >.<

 

That wig is like, three times the size of his head. I have since made him a new one...but he's wearing a dreadful outfit right now as someone else had to take that one....

 

D'aw, Ebils. He never fails to make me happy with his sinister cute and weird little self. Ebils still refuses to wear the clothes, even though I have been happily collecting a wardrobe for these guys.
I have realized why I didn't get along with this size the first time around. Both Jethro and Circus never changed. They wore the same outfit (sorta) and just sat there. I never had a problem with Ebils being nekkid but the other two I had no interest in because I did nothing with them. Sandy changes clothes. So he's already been fun. He's a little tough to deal with though...I'm used to Ebils being a posing dream - I had to suede and wire poor Sandy half to death and he's still not right. I'll work on him some more late.

The day before Halloween this happened.

 

The day before. Halloween. The day before. I'm still laughing. One more day and his "birthday" would have been freaking Halloween!! lol YOU FAIL BONES!

AngelBattle surprised me by including their current free gift - a pumpkin head which I love to death, and 3 extra pairs of hands I was unaware were included! So I was especially happy to open him - you may not have noticed this but I obsess over extra parts like a cray. I have boxes. I want them all.
Right now he's got a fist hand and a ROCK! hand going on. I love them. And that face!! I had a hard time choosing between all of the Dark Chocolate band members but I'm really glad I went with Cream. I never thought a boneface could be so expressive.

 

His elbow and knee joints aren't fantastic but he must be really well balanced because he can stand all over the place and with his arms and legs everywhere. I love the head/neck jointing along with the pelvis/spine joints. I just love this guy! He's on my desk right now, looking extremely happy. XD

So one last yay of the day. Last week I got a response to my WTB for the Lati Yellow Laches, the one I was so sad to have passed on at Dollism. It didn't come with it's fullset, and was on the SP body (which is the larger one), but I jumped on him anyway. I don't think he was popular at all, so there may not be too many out there....She shipped him Saturday and he got here in record time on Monday.

I regret nothing.

 

That's the face I fell in love with!!

He has the default faceup, which I'll be keeping for now (I like it, no desire to change a thing yet), and the eyes, which I also like. I made the wig and he stole this outfit from Sandy because, on the larger body, it's the only thing I have that fits him. 

Ultimately I would like to get him the smaller body, but I'm happy to have any right now. I don't care for how tall he is next to the rest....but I'm in no massive hurry. I was kind of hoping to get a Luts body for him, but it's a dreadful match. This is his true-to-life color - I have yet to find another tan that orange. I'll put a WTB/WTT for this body for a regular Yellow one, and if that fails I'll buy another full tan doll and switch heads. Which is probably what I'll end up having to do.

I calls him Fang, though I can't think of a real name for him....Bones is Mcoy from Star Trek, and I have the Sandman, and Sterek is incoming (Teen Wolf for those who don't know)....but for some reason I'm blanking on vampires.

Anyone else find that sad? I mean really :\
Of all the things.

I'm debating trying to get a vampire Noa as well, but if that doesn't happen it doesn't happen...other than a possible Noa, I don't really want anymore of this size. Fairyland just doesn't do it for me at this size, and Luts hasn't grabbed me yet either (though I bet they will - I don't put fangs past them at all) and I'm happy with my current little monsters. Or I will be when Sterek gets here XD

In other doll news, I put several of my Puki collection up for sale. I'm keeping my most favorites and that's it. Two have already sold (I have to update that!!), but there's still a couple left.

My LTF Rose - Latte - might be gone for awhile, or forever. I gave her body to Baby Alex's sleeping head. And I like it. A lot. I was looking for a body for him anyway, something cheap, and since I had this one already that's about as cheap as it comes! And truthfully I wouldn't have wanted anything other than LTF anyway.....and as much as I like Latte, I always kind of thought I'd end up selling her. This is better.

I modded the eyes on my Little Wyn head, they're not as crooked as they were, and bigger and more Wyn-like.

I think that's it. Not much else. I would really like to come with good photoshoot for Alex. I need to get a shot of his tattoos before they get ruined. Because they will, it's Alex. My 7th Kara Klum is still blank (and being tormented by Alex I) because I don't want to just do any old thing to him. I got the alpaca hair I want to make his wig with but I've yet to touch it. Someday I'll get everything to a point when I can work on that....someday...

Dollism (part 1)

I got back from Dollism Monday, but mentally I'm still in limbo lol
I have yet to even unpack!! I've been useless at work, and I really just want to play dolls, but have to get back to real life, as it were.

I was putting this post off until I had pictures to post, but I still don't have them all edited!! There's so many D: I didn't think I took a lot, but apparently I did, I'm not half through yet. A lot of them are horrible, my point and shoot does a good job, but nothing could function well in the horrid lighting EVERYWHERE in that awful hotel. So some turned out, others did not.

I will try and do a more detailed post, but for now, a few highlights.

Room Sales
This was the first thing we did Friday. We literally checked into the hotel, checked into Dollism,  tossed our sales on the bed and opened the door. XD People were shopping as we organized. The good thing was we had everything but the resin priced, and I had price tags pre-printed for the dolls, and a sign, so I did that kind of leisurely as people looked.

Room sales was honestly one of my favorite things all weekend because I am a very social person, and having people come in my room all hours of the night was a lot of fun, especially since they were all doll people, and a lot of them friends I've known for years and never met! It was like a giant party! With doll stuff! And money! XD I do regret not being able to shop more, I would have loved to visit everyone's room, and talk to those I missed, but I was selling most of the time, and unable to leave :( Plus the hotel's crap with shutting us down early, then before we even started....well, I'll leave most of my opinion on the Hyatt out, at least for now, other than to say I am NOT disappointed that they're looking at other venues for the next Dollism already.

Room sales were also fabulous for the most unexpected and wonder reason of all: they paid for my whole trip minus the Hotel and plane ticket. I am not kidding. I used my card for one small purchase, and my initial spending cash, and that's it. Room sales covered everything else. Including the doll I bought, most of the clothes and all the many pairs of eyes. Among all the other stuff, I sold two dolls (both bunnies), a body and a head. I consider that to be a major success.

Dollmore
If you know me at all, you know that one of the biggest reasons I was so incredibly excited to go to Dollism was to see Dollmore in person. They did not disappoint.

Friday night I escaped room sales for 5 minutes and took the elevator to their room. While in the 'vator, I chatted with another con-goer (who's name I didn't get and I regret that so much!!!), who it turned out, had a Judith on her. She stripped the poor girl lol to show me the body - because I'd mentioned I was interested in one (which is true, I'd been considering a Judith to replace the Souldoll as Mini Isis). I was so impressed I decided that that was definitely the way to go, but still wasn't thinking about immediate gratification so much as "OMGI'MRIGHTOUTSIDEDOLLMORE'SROOM!!!!!!!" In I went.

It was moderate chaos, dolls were set up on all the cabinets, all fullsets, looking amazing, and people were everywhere. Running around, talking, buying things, going through piles of stuff. It was sensory over-load. Being the total dork I am I teared up from just being in the room with all the dolls and the Dollmore ladies (who I was too afraid to talk too), and I didn't want to get involved in the mess (someone knocked over a doll and there was much noise) so I just looked at the dolls set up on display. I noticed two dolls right away. One, they had a Kara Klum sitting on their bed amongst all the sales stuff holding a sword and looking (as they do) disgruntled. He had brown hair, which might have accounted for his mood...they do like to be blond. XD
The other doll I saw right away was a blue-skinned Dollpire Shiloh, which I wanted SO FREAKING BAD!!! But I was "smart" and didn't bring my wallet. So no way could I buy not one thing. I was waiting to see how the sales turned out first.

While I was there, the Shiloh sold, which made me leave before I could start begging them to let me buy it XD
I didn't talk to them at room sales. It was a madhouse and I didn't have my identification with me (meaning I had left Alex in my room) so there was no point IMO. My roommate went after me, and confirmed that someone bought the blue vampire. Boo. One of the friends I went with ran down and actually bought one of the Judiths they had....so I got a good look at her too and was double-sure I wanted one at that point, but since I knew one had sold for sure and thought maybe another had sold, I didn't really think about buying one....

Saturday we stood in line waiting to be let in to the vendor room. When the line finally moved we split up, my roommate and I went to Oscar (pausing by DM - more chaos. They were really busy the whole time) so we could buy eyes and our other friends got in the long Switch line.

Four pairs (Four!!) of Oscar Eyes later, we went back to Dollmore. I sneaked in to their booth, and was caught by Abby...She saw Alex and recognized him as a Kara Klum right away (I'd always wondered if they would). She pointed him out to the other two (one of which is the DM CEO!! MRS DOLLMORE!) and they fawned all over him! I of course had to mention how much I loved his mold and all their dolls, and that I had one on order, so they fished him out for me and handed him over - wrapped in bubble-wrap and a blanket (he has his own blanket!! lol) and in a Dollmore Shopping bag (yay!!). I didn't want to leave, so I kind of stuck around and with help from my BF convinced myself I did need a new doll (even though I was not supposed to get one) since room sales had been so successful, and bought the last Judith Zinna. My CC didn't go through ( a whole other story - ugh) so I paid with cash. They let me have her for $20 less than price, which was less than actual price on their site. Yay! I was to come back in an hour to get her (her fullset is insane. I'm not kidding.) so they could pack her up.

20 minutes later Abby came running after me down the hall to tell me she was ready for pick-up XD so I followed her back to their booth. She asked me a little more about Alex and if I wrote about him...so I told her about the comic. I had brought them with me, both intending to sell them and to give some to Dollmore as a thank you for, well for Alex. He did get me into the hobby, and I love it, so they deserve something IMO. Unfortunately me being me I'd forgotten to bring them down....so I would have to grab them later.....

Fast forward through a bunch of other con stuff, and I went up to my room, grabbed the comics and brought them down...I only had one set with me, because in all honesty I wasn't sure they'd even care. I handed them to Abby, and she saw what they were and gave them to the CEO (I wish I'd gotten their names!!! I am so fail) who got really excited and handed me a box with their amazing solid metal headphones as a gift!! I'm still shocked. I must have thanked her a million times while I stood there like an idiot - those things are expensive and they weren't marked down for the con. Abby asked if she could have some too (again, didn't think they'd care so much *fail again*) so I went up and brought two more sets down for them.

I will forever be so touched by how happy they were to see my art, and to realize that the doll they made plays such a huge part in my artistic life. And by how wonderful they were to me. They smiled and talked to me every time I walked by, and really loved Alex. I had been worried tbh. I had III with me most of the time - and I've always been a little afraid that they wouldn't appreciate how I took a very limited fullset doll and.....well, turned him into something else. But they loved his faceup and that I'd made his wig (they asked). It really made me happy. And when I had Alex I they liked him too, especially when I mentioned he was my first doll ever. He's not quite as flashy as III (who is?), but he's my baby lol (he got spoiled rotten too - a super-expensive outfit just for him. Though the new one is wearing the pants right now...).

I really can't thank them enough for being so friendly to me, and going out of their way to do it (I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I have like, nine-thousand DM dolls lol and just bought one while I was there, but still!!). They made what was already a fabulous weekend that much more memorable. Something I'll never forget.

I probably don't have to point out that he's the middle one XD
Their all wearing their new loot (III has on the headphones) but the new one is wearing the underwear he came in (which for some reason, I really like. He's still got the shirt on), one of the many "Alex-wigs", a shirt I bought at room sales, and Enchanted Doll eyes I got in the vendor room. Yep. I finally caved and bought super-expensive urethane eyes that aren't Oscar. And they really are worth it. Just look how much they show up in my crappy photo!! Of course, they may not when he the Alex "eyelashes of doom" they all get. But for now they look amazing. III got Oscar eyes like I's, so all three of them have special eyes now.

I am....way more enamored by the new one (I'm already referring too as Seven) than I thought I would be. I thought it would be like the others...but I had forgotten how long it's been since I've gotten a full one and not parts. And I've never gotten a blank one. Even the heads have had faceups. He looks different too. The first thing I said when I had a chance to inspect him in my hotel room was that something was different about his body. It's more detailed than the others - making me resolve to change my order around. I don't want to mod this one - he's special. My friends, as usual, think I'm crazy and that he's the same, but I will swear on my life he's not, and yesterday I suddenly realized why. He's the only one I own who isn't sanded.

I didn't know what seams were when I bought I(one) so I had them sanded. III came sanded as part of his Fullset, as did IV. II's body I got sanded because the others were. Dollmore sands their dolls completely, head included, so it's an all-over perfection and there's no marks. Seven isn't sanded at all....so all his detail is just a tiny bit sharper. It's not really that noticeable except in his torso...he has more abs than the others XDD

Ok, this has gone on too long as it is and I only posted one photo!! I'll get into more stuff in the next post. I don't have all the photos finished, but what I have is on my flickr in a Dollism album.

Dolls, Dolls, Dolls

Just a quick (heh) update on the old collection.

Alex III
Needs his claws glossed again, and he'll be as finished as he's going to get. I really wish I could get a couple pictures of him before I pack him away, but there's no time and I don't want clothes on him at all because I'm paranoid he'll get chipped, so just envision how cool he is. Awesome, right? XD

He's happy to have his head back on, and his hair (giant mega-Godzilla has been holding it for a month while he's been worked on. I think he's sad to let it go.) back. Though I put a net over his head to tame it. I used some leave-in conditioner on it and it's super-soft now XD

The Kara Klums as a unit
Well, things are changing for them. I beheaded II last night and gave him his old body back, leaving 2.5 a head again. I'm putting the DC body up for sale. If it doesn't sell I have an idea for it already, but I would really just like to sell it and replace it with another Y-03 body, sans extra joints. If that happens I'll decide what to do with the other one.

So I'm down to 6 again, since 2.5 has no body. Lol. Or I will be once I grab the new guy....who may not end up with the mods I planned - I might do it to 2.5. I'm not as attached to him as I am the others, and if I can get a junk body for him I'll feel better testing out things I've never done before. The new one will still get an open mouth mod, since I want two of them, but a lesser one...hopefully better than the first one I did. I'm not happy with it. So basically I'll just be switching them around again. Heh heh.

I'm dying to work on Azrael right now (of course, when I can't.) so I might clean him off after Dollism and start him. I don't have a concrete plan, I just want to draw on him a lot. >.<
He may also be naked for the rest of his life....

Skullface just needs his one hand finished (one of these days it will happen) and he's done. So that's nice. Maybe before Halloween...

I and III are as done as they're going to get, more done than they've ever been. It's a little scary...I'm terrified for them now D:

Seriously, I couldn't have picked a better head if I'd totally done it on purpose. It looks like him! I'm not kidding. I just got him yesterday and I can't wait to have him together. But he's going to Dollism to be my Faceup Workshop head, and then I'll probably have to wipe that faceup and give him a real one someday next week...so it might be a while.

But he looks amazing on the body (not a resin match sadly), the wigs look great on him and I love him with Jean. So a big huge and excited yay!!

I'd still like to attempt Wolverine 2.0 with different mold, but for right now I just want the two of them. I'd like to finish them completely. Either get Remy his own body, or one for Marcus, so there's no more sharing (though I am not in a hurry - I need to work on Marcus first. I think I just decided the Granado body is now Gambits....), and find both him and Jean some really good clothes, get them both blushed and complete before tackling any more projects....I don't want to get overwhelmed again. Ha.

I can't sell my Afi head. I can't. I tried, I really did....but I would rather he sit in a box forever and never get used than sell him and regret it. I am planning currently to attempt to join the next Soom Teeny Gem free choice or whatever they call it, and try to get another one, with maybe the bunny parts if that's an option, in tan to replace Hopscotch. If that happens I'll sell my head, but maybe I won't...I love the modded eyes on mine.  I just don't like him on the DK body. Of all my YO sized dolls it was my least favorite.

And I feel SUPER guilty selling my Ripley days. I mean really. Other than one DMK I don't sell Dollmore resin. But I can't deal with all the big guys anymore. Ryuji stays, Israfel stays, they can sit on the top shelf together and I will hopefully be ok with that. I just keep thinking "if" with Metatron...and I can't think about "if" anymore. He just needs to go. I'm glad I never wiped his LE faceup now XD

I hope I can sell this stuff. I think the key is going to be to just put it up and keep it up...and lower the price if I have too. It has to go, I feel better just having the bulk of them off my shelf.
The funny thing is, I don't even know what I'll use the money for!! Maybe a body for my last floating head? A body for the newly bodiless Kara Klum?? Who knows. I am thinking of shelling Sage's brother, I have a list of heads that might work as him....so that could be fun. We'll see.

The Road to Dollism and other things.

I leave Friday for Buffalo. I'm hitting panic mode now as I don't really feel like anything is ready.

Over the weekend my roommate and I went through all our things and pulled out everything we're selling. Holy Mother of God. It's so much we need to bring both our allotted two suitcases. one for things like clothes, and one for sales! D:

I feel like I'm literally cleaning out half of what I own. It's a good feeling. It'll be even better if some of it sells.

My Resin sales list has doubled. I really looked at my dolls over the weekend and added some to the pile that I never thought I'd get rid of. After Dollism I'll be putting even more up for sale. It's time. I need to cut my collection down, and even if I regret it (I adore my Afi, but he's just not right) I need to try and sell them. Most are going with me (a lot are just tinies and anthros) but the three big guys might now. Well, I'll take the head from one.

Everything is listed in my sales page if you're curious. I may be adding my Doll Chateau Youth Boy body to that list. I haven't 100% decided yet. I just really like Skullface's body and Alex II is just too tall like that. He will of course get his old body back - leaving 2.5 just a head again XD That's it goes guys!! You start out a head and end up one in the end...or something like that. In the future I might try for another DC Y-03, without the joints for II. I still want one. But there's the price to think of *dies*

Metatron is another one I may regret - but I can't have the bigger dolls laying around anymore. They take up too much space. Ryuji is getting a chance at survival and I have no desire to get rid of Israfel (who knew I'd like that stupid Hound so much?!) as he's the only one of the big guys I like. I'll have to take a huge loss on the Ripley Days and Kamau. No one wants them and they were both LE's and really expensive when I bought them. But I have to get them out. Someday I may buy another Ripley Days (a basic, with no frills) but I probably won't. I do NOTHING with him, and I can't find him clothes I like. And I would much rather concentrate on other dolls.

So I have a lot of dolls, clothes, shoes, eyes, wigs - the works - to sell at room sales! If it all goes it will fund my whole trip lol. Would be nice.

Alex III
He's finally a doll again. Mostly. I put him back together last night, sans head. I have to say, he looks amazing...but he chipped a few times already and I actually broke his wrist part while stringing him. He has 3 pairs of hands (plus the jointed ones) so this wasn't a huge deal, but I was still a little down. I want to spray him a million more times before he gets his head back and packed, so he's not totally done. Though it's supposed to rain tonight...so he may not get sprayed! Dammit.

Migidoll River
Got shipped just in freaking time. I asked them last week what was up (at least one River arrived already) and they said they'd ship the next day...but my order didn't update, and I didn't get a notice. BUT I got the email today, and when I tracked it it said it was in customs already! So it'll be here. Unless customs eats it. Lets hope not. I really wanted to see him with Jean and the Heath head before Dollism because heath is going along in the sales bin (I'm feeling optimistic) and I'll feel better if I'm sure River will be a good replacement. He was also intended to be my faceup workshop head. So now I won't have to worry about a replacement.

The head I bought to enter the contest with. I probably would have had him done, but his ear chipped (again. What the fuck,) and I had to fix it. So now I'm not finished and have to work on him some more. Arg. At least I'll have an entry of some kind.

Chibi Skullface
His status was elevated from my not owning him (I mean I've only had him a week lol) to going to Dollism with the other two YO sized dolls I'm bringing. Lol he moves up in the world fast!! I bought him a skelly suit like Baby Alex's...and then I grabbed one for Chibs too because I was buying off Amazon and I could. So all three of them can be twinzes!! Or something. He's too fat and tall for it lol but my friend fixed it so it fits better. He can sit in it now! XD

Is that the most perfect thing ever for him, or what?? XD He's wearing it now, but might go back to the other outfit for traveling.

Uriel is one I always want to bring places and never do. I really want to shop for him and that F60 body is awesome.

Baby Wyn also needs clothes. I am selling most of his. Plus I dressed him. Now I feel guilt.

Ashes I don't care too much about bringing, but he's my only Soom doll and I plan on going to their panel. More guilt. But I could leave him out. Maybe I will. I'll cross him off now. (He should be lucky he's not getting sold. All the bunnies but Boo, North and Ashes are going up. And Latte. But I don't count her since she's not in that universe. And I really like her now. )

Somehow that seems more manageable. I should bring Wyn. Baby Wyn usually gets to go to meets but hasn't for a while and I've never brought him anywhere else. Uriel is kind of big, but he'll pack easily and I can take off his hands for travel. I'll see what happens when I start putting them all in my bag and carryon.

So that's it. I have to do laundry and buy a couple things (hair stuff) that I need for traveling, and maybe I'll actually be ready to go ^^;;;;;;; I'm excited, but I'll be more excited when I get to the hotel with my million bags lol with nothing to look forward too but doll fun!!

Paper BJDs?

I have been massively busy since Thursday.

First, Thursday, Ghost finally showed up!!

 

Ghost is the Dollzone Carter my best friend ordered in February for my Birthday in April. Lol. Happy Birthday to meeeee! Late! But still awesome!

I love him. He's adorable and weird, which is how I like my dolls. He's keeping the grey hair, and will wear mostly black, white, grey and natural colors (cause he's a ghost). I want to order him a couple more wigs - and then for now that's it. I have 4 dolls that I need to faceup at the same time, him, the two Boo's and my DZ Star. None of that will happen until after Dollism.

 

 Speaking of Star, I bought the 5Star Tong Tong from DDE. It came Monday and now my little "dragon" has a body again! Only this time he's a demon. The horns that came with Tong Tong are perfect for him. I'm going to glue them to his head. I'm not kidding.
He looks fantastic right now. All the clothes that are too big for Chibs are going to him.

I worked on Alex III like a fiend all weekend, but he's not close to finished and the weather has been HORRIBLE. Hot and so humid you can't breath. I'm not taking the chance....he can wait. Not for long, but at least until this weekend. I have to finish him, he can't go out in the public half-done!!

I also cleaned my room. This doesn't sound impressive, but if you'd seen it, you'd know....I can walk in there now. I'm doing another wardrobe purge, along with some hats, shoes and other crap I don't need. Then a rearrange of everything so hopefully everything will actually have a place for a change.

Now for the fun part.

I woke up Friday morning to this. I'm not really sure why, but I became obsessed. I must have looked at all those examples for hours, no joke. I decided I wanted to enter, if only to make one, not really to win (though I'd take the prizes lol)...I was thinking of how I'd do Alex when I remembered I couldn't mess with him - III is apart, I is modeling, and the others aren't in a state to even look at atm.

Then it hit me. Skullface!!! I dragged him to work and took a million pictures of him Friday. Of the shots, these are the ones that turned out.

Which I thought were decent photos, but don't help when trying to make paper dolls :\

Because I was busy with a million other things over the weekend I didn't touch it again until yesterday (I was also busy Monday) when I took a million more photos.

Then it got hard. I went through all my pictures and pulled out the best ones of each part. For real, most all his parts are from separate pictures. I cut out the parts, sized and resized, and placed them all together in Photoshop. Some parts, like his head and bottom torso, are made of several photos.

Part of his hair, and the hat are cropped out. I took both of them from another photo and merged. I also had to do that with his pants a lot. He's pieced together like a patchwork doll lol more than a paper one.

 Each part is in it's own PS layer. This file is massive. You can tell he's made up of all different photos because each part is a different color XDDDD *fail*

Then I had to take him apart for the "layout"

Not too bad. But again, massive. I had this one merged to two layers, which was a good thing, because I couldn't print this on a regular printer. My intention was to split it onto two 11x17 sheets, but it was too big for that, and laid out wrong. SO I had to make yet another layout, or, 3 layouts, all 11x17 so I could place and print.

I almost wish I had done crazier poses to show how jointy he is. I used 19 brad-things to fasten him, and he's so tall the hat goes nearly to my hip when I hold him up. He's like, twice the size of the real Skullface. He's taped to the wall (you can see the tape on his foot. I'm pissed. I wish I'd seen it before I took the pictures). I put packing tape on him on the backside so I could stick masking tape to him and not damage him. I printed 4 out total, one on regular paper by accident, then three on card-stock. This one is just the card-stock version. The other two I laminated! When I get home tonight I'll start cutting and assembling. I didn't want to laminate the one I entered because I thought he'd be too shiny to photograph.

It's kind of dumb how much fun this thing is. I want to make more. I want to make even better ones! I have a list of things I'd have done better:

Make the black outline better, more consistent and on everything.
Make sure I know how all the joints will work, not just the last half (I got better as I went)
Add dots where the brads will go.
Cleaner pieces.
Better hair. And jointed.
Removable and jointed hat.
Better photos to start with.

It was always my intention to joint the hair, but my photos didn't match up in color or resolution, so I gave up. I think he's fine without. If he was even bigger I could joint the fingers and toes!! *dies*

I am really happy with how he turned out, regardless of what I'd do better. I'd love to make some of my drawings that I could sell at craftshows and stuff. That would be really awesome (guessing it wouldn't be quite legal to sell the ones of the dolls? Since I didn't make the dolls..?).

Anyway, I will call my first paper doll a wild success, whether I win anything or not, I'm thrilled.
Which is one of the reasons I used Skullface, since he was "born" for a DOA contest last year...and even though I didn't win he's been so awesome I'm thrilled. I never would have done that if not for the contest, and I love him! He still needs his one hand finished >.< but I think he looks good <3

Well now that that's done, I may have some time to sued and glue tonight, and maybe I'll get some pics of Star on his new body tomorrow. Or more of Ghost. He pretty cutes right now. I've got faceups and tatts to be doing...and can't do any of it due to weather....so might as well work on non-weather dependent things.

Updates of the BJD kind

Long time no post. I was doing good for awhile there....then died. lol. Not literally...

So what's been happening? Not a lot. I started the open-mouth mod. I'll post pics of that when I get them situated. I want to start a project journal on DOA for my 7th Kara Klum, and these open-mouth guys are part of that....so when I get more photos I may do that.

I did a faceup for a contest. I doubt I have chance, but here's hoping.

I redid Isis's faceup while doing some commissions. Then it rained for a week so nothing else got done.

Alex III had some damage to his faceup -- somehow. I took him to Texas for Doll-A-Kon, he survived all that traveling, got back and unpacked perfectly fine....and then proceed to chip his face sitting on a shelf. I swear to god, if those Kara Klums were any more like Alex they'd get off the shelf and come after me in my sleep.

I fixed his faceup and kind of.....fixed it better? I like it more now. Isis's new faceup is kind of like her old, first faceup lol. She's regressed. I decided she could wear makeup again.

I sold my AOD body I've had for years....this was Sage's other old body (she's goin' thru 'em). Haven't done anything with the $$ yet, I might actually save it for Dollism. :O Right??! Crazy.

I put MIni-Isis up for sale as a full doll. I think I'd like to try her out as a Dollmore Judith - which I was contemplating before I got the Souldoll Janne. My dream would be for enough stuff to sell so I could maybe buy one at Dollism if they had one. If they don't, or I don't have the $$ I'm not getting other dolls.....for real. I won't be able to travel back with them lol.

I was tooling around in the MP last week looking at Dollzone and Doll Chateau heads to replace Boo's Ro head with, and I found DZ Reiko. The sales photos weren't great, so I looked it up on MOC (which is what I do with all the dolls they sell lol). I did a mock-up and liked it, then realized that they not only had a WS one instock, but it was the last one, as it's one of the molds DZ has discontinued. I went on and bought it, cause I didn't want to take the chance of missing out. It finally came today (they took their time shipping!). It has a default faceup I'll be wiping, but since I had no choice...well, I had no choice lol.

Say hi to the new Boo.

 Here are my thoughts on Boo.

Boo was a concept I came up with years ago for Baby Alex - the doll. I took him to work one day to sit on my desk and be cutes, and for the first time ever, I had the thought that he must be lonely, as I had no other dolls his size. I don't generally think that about my dolls, but I did then.

In the history of Alex and his character, he didn't have friends growing up....so I couldn't justify getting another YO sized doll to relate to him. But he did have that white, plush bunny from Dollheart...and for some reason I thought of Soom's Ai, recently arriving to owners and something I kind of regretted not getting. I thought Ai would make a good bunny, and Boo was born. I drew him, named him, and new I wanted Soom Ai's head on a LTF body. I had a back-up plan if I couldn't get Ai, but I did (for pretty cheap!), so it was a pointless plan.

 Several years went by, and I liked having little Boo, and decided to "grow" Boo up.

I started looking at Dollzone because that was the aesthetic I wanted, and loved Ro -- the blank head pictures were perfect. Unfortunately, the real Ro didn't look like that.

The Boo "character" was a formless thing that fed on the lifeforce or essence of Alex when he was a baby...it used that to create itself a body based off Alex (which is why they had to have the same body as children) and the stuffed bunny he had with him. It was supposed to "grow" with him, though not exact -- I didn't want another Pado, I wanted Boo to be his own self, but similar in ages.

The actual Ro had a longer, narrower face than depicted in the blank head shots, which actually made me think either they were accidentally photoshopped or even that wasn't the "final" head - like it was a prototype or something.

Needless to say I had issues with him from day 1 - from him being too big, to too mature. The too big thing I solved by switching bodies so he was on the girl body. I tried to get over the too mature thing, but finally gave up. I tried for over a year....I love that Ro, but it's not what I wanted.

Reiko is way more what I wanted. I think with a Boo faceup it'll be even better. The eyes aren't narrow like the Ai eyes (which is one of the features I was looking for) but I think the wider eyes helps it to have a less-human appearance and it looks younger. I can't wait to get him home next to Little Alex. And to wipe that faceup and give it a new one -- I wiped little Boo's face and body too so I'll do them both together so they look the same for a change.

Little Boo....ugh. I swear Soom has the worst resin. It's SO yellow! That head and body started off identical - and they're the same age - now the head is lemon-yellow and the body is still white (and it's Fairyland! I used to think they yellowed fast...). And it's not like I took him out in the sun a lot or it's dirty or the sealant....it's yellowed all the way through, evenly, and I have cleaned him off....so sad. I'll have to do a lot of whitening to get him close to his body...

Lol my tracking said Boo's new head wouldn't arrive until tomorrow, I had Macchi and Mini-Alex at work with me when I ran home to grab the package....so now I have three dolls on my desk at work >.<

Lots of Stuff. Ok, just Some Stuff.

We had a dollmeet this weekend that was 80's themed, so I had some fun throwing together a few looks for my dolls. Isis, Alex (I) and Marcus went as Flashdance, random 80's punk and Jason from Friday the 13th, and my whole group of 8 (ok so not the whole group, I left one at home) mature minis went in 80's inspire garb. I thought they looked amazing lol and after I was kicking myself for not taking any photos at all. Everyone really went all out for this meet, their dolls looked great. And I didn't even bring a camera!! Such fail.

I really should try to get a pic of Isis and Alex together, maybe with Jason (Marcus) lurking in the bg lol.

Anyway, I don't have much to update with...my Song was finally (supposedly) shipped this weekend, so I'm hoping he'll be here someday this week (but who really knows.). I managed to order the Migidoll River head (he's super-limited, so if you want one, go now!!), and I'm really excited to get him now because I have realized that I think he looks like a more realistic Volks Heath. Which means I might remake Gambit. It just depends on...things.

I bought him to possibly be Marcus, so I'll do that first.....but if he looks even remotely good with Jean I might even skip that and let Ell stay Marcus (I think he's just fine anyway) and do River up as Gambit. I'll have to buy much smaller eyes for him, but....who cares.

I'll have to hang on to Heath a while before deciding if I want to keep him or wipe and sell at a loss because no one wants that mold anymore (which is sad because I've really come to like it) and I didn't get any COA with him which means he'll be impossible to sell anyway.

I don't know what I'll do. Wait until he gets here I suppose, and see how he looks with Jean and David (and Alex) then go from there.

So now my wait-list has grown to:

Resinsoul Song (hope he's actually shipped)
Migidoll River (head only)

Regardless of who River ends up being (Gambit, Marcus or even possibly a second Michael), he will have to share with one or two of the other heads. So no bodies yet.

I have no issues with Jean if Gambit becomes more realistic, but Jubilee might have to go. Soo is a great mold for her, but not even remotely real enough with the others. I may just look for a new head for her, or sell her completely. And of course I'm still having issues with Logan....I might look for a new head and start over from scratch. Or sell the thing and just quit. Maybe all I really need are Jean and Gambit anyway (I love having them as dolls!).

Ugh. I can't decide what I want to do!!!

I am almost too exhausted to post this. Alex wears me out. And down.
I spent hours working on him....and in one ride to work in a bag he set me back hours more by somehow wrecking himself. I know he did it. I even had him wrapped, and he still managed to chip himself, get really dirty (I swear to god he's the dirtiest doll I've ever owned. I think he rolls in it when I'm not around), mess up his freaking eyes and do god knows what else to himself.

If he sat untouched on a shelf, never handled, in a clean room, he'd probably just fall apart because he could.

I shouldn't be surprised. This doll has defied all logic since I bought him. He has expressions, he changes positions, he has behavior.  I tend not believe that dolls can be possessed or hold souls or anything.....except for Alex. He's off somehow. And when I say Alex, for a change I only mean this one. The other Kara Klums are gorgeous and I adore them, but the first one is just an anomaly in every possible way. If dolls can absorb vibrations or souls or something, he's got it, and won't share.

Beware, he's shirtless. I never photograph him sans shirt. Except for Christmas. It's tradition.

So I have come to believe that I can't do the fun eyelashes anymore. It's impossible to see his eyes. You can irl, but not in photos...they disappear completely. He stole the Oscar eyes from Alex III (which was inevitable. I knew it would happen), mostly because they're smaller and easier to see. And you still can't see them. Bye bye eyelashes.

This is another new wig. It was a Monique Evelyn I got at Doll-A-Kon. Now it's an Alex-wig. I cut inches off the thing, and "styled" it , but it's Alex, so it's all over anyway.

I edited the HELL out his hand. Dollmore has the kind of resin that changes color to a point and stops. Dikadoll keeps on yellowing. His hand is so much more yellowed than he is it's awful, I only put the hands on him for this shoot so he could smoke, and then I cut the cig out anyway!!!

I still have to wipe and blush both pairs of hands and feet.

His tattoos went on fairly easily, it was just a lot of work and time consuming. I can't even express how much better they look compared to the old ones!

 

I don't think his back has ever been seen in photos. 

 

 Alex I has the least ink of all of them, as he's the youngest. He's missing the infinity thorns and crow (which I have yet to draw) on his left arm and the wings on his back. And one more I haven't done yet on his right hand. And there is still blank space on his rt arm that could have stuff. We'll see if I go there.

I did the ones on his back too large (which is how I roll), so when I do III who has the massive phoenix wings on his back, they'll have to be scaled down.

In case you're wondering what chipped, it was his lft nipple there....I fixed it in PS. Now I have to do it irl. Asshole. He didn't have to chip.....totally did it on purpose.  Now he's sitting on my desk (shirtless. Scandal!! :O) looking smug. He knows what he did.

There are a couple things I wish I could fix, but for the most part I'm happy and not doing anymore.

In Which I go a little Cray

Instead of the various mods I have to start someday, I defied the bad spraying weather and started Alex's tattoos. It was hot, humid has hell, and started to rain....and I did it anyway XD

Which, looking back...is pretty much how I did all their tats....so this should go great. GREAT.

In any case he's nearly finished already and I hope to wrap them up tonight, give him a decent body blush (for once - he's usually my last-minute-crap-he's-going-to-be-shirtless-and-needs-blushing doll), and maybe drag him along to work tomorrow for some (hopefully) ok photos. Alex I defies photos, which is why I rarely pictureate him. He hates the camera like no ones business. Here's hoping I can tame his new hairs for a few shots.

Now that his tattoos are almost finished....I am horribly ashamed of Alex III, who is the last one who has the old ones (I never wiped him). It was my intention to not have to redo him before Dollism, but there's no way he can go like this. I'm either going to have to redo him or wipe him down before he goes anywhere. Luckily I'm still happy with everyone's faceup.

On to other thingses.

Java will hopefully be on his way this week. I have no idea how to proceed with him....I would love to do the mods I want to do (if nothing else I will attempt elf ears), but I really want to see how that dark resin takes to sanding before I get mod-happy on his cute little face. He's got a faceup I will have to wipe...it's too masculine. I don't have a wig or eyes or clothes for him. All I know is that I'd like him to have white hair. That's...all I know.

In the meantime, Macchi's wig, the one that I kept saying was "out there somewhere" is home! At first I hated it...but I'm getting used to it now and don't hate it. I'm still on the search for his "real" hairs. But he can switch it up with this one and the other one for now. He also got a Mani-Pedi - with glitter! - like Vanilla did. Only his is multicolored with clear.... Cause, Unicorn.

 

It's really hard to see the clear glitter in photos, but it's obvious in person. That's his new wig. The tail part was really long, and I had always had the intention of cutting it off, but I got that far and liked it like that, so it's staying. He got a new shirt too.

It would be nice if I had any kind of background to work with.....I'm not sure work would appreciate it if I started building sets in my office....

Well, it's more like the past since she's not a new sculpt, but I've never seen her. And she'd make a great Gabriel, especially since Michael will likely end up as a Migidoll as well. Woo!! FUTURE DOLLS!!!

And by future, I mean next actual year. I still plan on spending as little on dolls as I can the rest of the year. Though I'm already planning on trying not to buy another Resinsoul boy. I wanted one more to add to the Mini group I'm currently obsessing over, there is one available I can use, but I'm waffling on it for several reasons. Right now it's for sale for a price that I'm pretty sure is more than they cost new even with shipping, if not right up there with - and then it's plus shipping. And even more then, it's modded...in a way I"m not thrilled with. Also not my first choice in sculpt.

So why do I want it? BECAUSE IT'S THERE!!! And I'm 100% sure I could make him work and then I'd maybe like him more for the making of him work. I am fairly sure that was a non-sense making sentence. EDIT: Ok I bought him.....pretty much everything from here down 5 paragraphs is pointless now lol

I think my first choice would be a Dark Tan RS Mei boy. This one is all those things but Song not Mei. And the elf ears were modded off. No. Elf. Ears. This is blasphemy. Seriously. Forget that I did it once (modding the points off of a Vampire Ryu is not really modding elf ears off anyway. Right?!), it kind of drives me nuts when people do this. Elf ears are adorable!! Nuff said.

Anyway if I did get this doll I'd mod elf ears back on, open the eyes a tad and smooth down the nose and possibly chin area to hopefully get a younger, softer looking Song. As I want him to be Mocha's younger, softer looking brother. So I'd have to mod a dark tan doll in the face which is generally frowned upon in this hobby because, well for good reasons. It'll leave horrible discolorations on his face. BUT I think I could blush it back to decentness if I had too.

But there is the price to consider. It's more than I want to pay.....and then of course the seller went and put the price as negotiable on the thread today. Ugh. If she's willing to go down I might not be able to resist. If I order from RS I might be in for a long wait, but I could get fun things like the doll I want, plus heeled feets and different hands. All of which would cost more and I don't want to pay. Lol

Of course I could always get nothing and spend my money on cat ears and tails for Des and Vanilla (hey did I mention I figured out everyone's names?! Didn't know that, did you!! HA HA), and maybe some parts for them as well depending on where I order from.

It will all depend on how much money I have left after paying for my plane ticket (DOLLISM!! I'M SO ON MY WAY OK NOT REALLY YET BUT SOON!!). And if that doll is still available. I keep thinking it'll sell....but with my luck it will be there for another week tormenting me.

So, the names. I gots them. I figured out a solution by dropping my most favorite (Cinnamon Dolce) out of the running and making Mocha, Frappuchino. Which is his last name now as he'd never had one before. So Java Chip is his brother. Which is why I need a new doll. The character was in my head when I started making this story up for the three I had (before Latte showed up and Des/Soshi came back), but not as Mocha's relation, just a friend of Vanilla's. Once I decided he should be Mocha's brother, everyone fell into place. I love it when a plan comes together.

So anyway this got longer than it was supposed too....here are the players!

Back Story: Private Investigator, and very private person. He's the brains of the operation. Pretty much all the operations. Has a pathetic (non-existent) love life.

Now I have to work on a group shot. And think of a name for the PI service (in keeping with the coffee theme I'm thinking Cafe Noir, but that's a little silly? And it's Alex's name. He's not involved damnit.), the city they all live in - some furtury place, that's always lit up and super fast and busy and obsessed with money and fame a little like Tokyo only not (because I don't think Tokyo is obsessed with money and fame but I could be wrong and besides it's all fictional!!).

Now that I've got my thoughts for the weekend, I'll be off. I may start modding heads tomorrow. It's supposed to be rainy.
